Brevity = concise and exact use of words in writing or speech.
Hi there.
Thank you for checking out this page.
The main theme in my approach in writing is to keep things simple.
I aim to deliver information, opinion, or explanations in the most concise way.
In short, brevity in words.
I achieve this by:
- Keeping The Writing Simple To Read. I try to keep all my writing readable by Grade 8 students (ages 13-14) at the least. Adults can quickly skim and scan the article to get what they want. This may not be possible with very technical topics.
- Short Paragraphs: Short paragraphs make an article more skimmable, which helps with reading.
- Break Down Sentences: I use tools like Hemingway to break down long sentences. Shorter sentences reduce mental overload while reading, making understanding easier.
- Reduce Passive Forms: Keeping sentences in active form simplifies comprehension and understanding.
- Using Tables. Tables can present information in a very concise way, which many readers like. I usually use tables to summarize sections of my writing.
- Summary ‘Answers’. For every subtopic, I include a short answer under 50 words. Readers can read this and get the gist of the subtopic. If they are interested, they read on. If not, they can skip to the next subtopic. These are also in bold, to catch readers’ attention.
- Grammar Check: I use Grammarly Pro to check and correct my grammar to ensure your readers enjoy a great reading experience.
Hope this helps
